Welcome to the first issue of the new
and improved Santa Clara County Airports
Newsletter!
We know that's not a particularly
catchy name, so the Editors are leaving it up
to you to come up with a more appropriate
one.
You'll notice there's a "Name the Newsletter" contest at the right of this
page, and we hope everyone will take a few
minutes to participate.
With over 500,000 annual operations
and home to over 1,300 based aircraft, Palo
Alto, Reid-Hillview, and South County
airports serve a vital general aviation reliever
role for Mineta San Jose International Airport
and the Bay Area airport network.
Part of that role is to communicate
with our customers, an essential ingredient
to our operations. In an effort to keep you
up-to-date regarding our airports, each issue
of the Newsletter will feature a variety of
articles designed to inform, educate, and
hopefully entertain you.
We will have a management update
for each of our three airports in this and
future issues to provide the latest information
regarding new programs, construction
projects, and upcoming events.
We will also feature a profile of one
of our Airport Department staff (with yours
truly serving as the guinea pig), a Q&A on
current issues, a "Tech Talk" section to
unravel acronyms and introduce
innovations, an events calendar, and
important announcements.
We are very interested in your
opinions and suggestions, so that we can
make this newsletter an important part of
your experience with Santa Clara Airports.
Our contact information is on the back cover,
and we encourage you to bombard us with
story ideas or questions you may have.
This is your newsletter, and on behalf
of the entire airports and editorial staff, we
hope you enjoy it!
Happy landings,
Carl Honaker
